LIMB COLLECTION: LIMB SEASON HAS OFFICIALLY STARTED!!!
The Owensboro Sanitation Department proudly provides:
- Limb collection
- Leaf collection
- Bagged/Canned yard waste
... All in addition to the solid waste services, at no extra cost to you!
Limb season is generally ran between about the second week of February thru the second week of October.
We are currently accepting limbs curbside on your regularly scheduled garbage day each week. Piles are to be left behind the curb to ensure storm drains may remain clear of debris. Limb piles must be accessible to our drivers upon arrival. Please leave plenty of clearance around and above your limbs and do not block with any parked vehicles.
Curbside limb collection is not the only option. You also have the choice to haul to the Daviess County Transfer Station located at 2129 Grimes Ave. If you take your limbs to the transfer station, to ensure free disposal, be sure to take a current copy of your Sanitation bill (will be on OMU or Daviess County Water invoice) and a photo ID.
***Transfer station requires all loads to be secured. If your load is not strapped/tied/tarped, they won't turn you away, but you may be subject to a $20 fee.
Leaf Season will begin the middle of October, 2025. Collection will start in Zone 3A this year.
The systematic, street by street, leaf collection is currently suspended during the limb season. Leaves may be bagged or placed in cans and sat curbside for collection during limb season, and year round! Again, we ask each bag and/or container be 30 lbs. or less each.

Guide to Quality Service
- Be ready on collection day. Once crews pass through your area, they cannot return for late collections. Return collections are expensive in fuel, labor and maintenance costs.
- Place leaves curbside, in your yard waste can or bag.
- Do not place limbs over sidewalks or other obstructions.
- Do not mix limbs with other debris or trash.
- Do not block limb piles with vehicles.
*As always, paying customers may continue to utilize the collection for bags and cans of yard waste year-round.
