The Leaf Zones for 11/21/2024 are:
5A, 5B, 5C, and 5D
The Owensboro Sanitation Department proudly provides:
- Limb collection
- Leaf collection
- Bagged/Canned yard waste
... All in addition to the solid waste services, at no extra cost to you!
As always, paying customers may continue to utilize the collection for bags and cans of yard waste year-round.
You also have the choice to haul to the Daviess County Transfer Station located at 2129 Grimes Ave. If you take your limbs or leaves to the transfer station, to ensure free disposal, be sure to take a current copy of your Sanitation bill (will be on OMU or Daviess County Water invoice) and a photo ID.
***Transfer station requires all loads to be secured. If your load is not strapped/tied/tarped, they won't turn you away, but you may be subject to a $20 fee.
*Effective October 14, 2024 Limb collection has been suspended. This service will resume February 17th, 2025.
During this time, the Yard Waste trucks will be converted from pulling chippers to pulling leaf vacuum systems.
Leaf Season has begun.
Here you will find daily postings for the zones and subsections that we intend to collect. You can also find these updates via Owensboro.org, Facebook, The Messenger Inquirer, WBKR and WBIO.
Guide to Quality Service
In the event that we are unable to meet that day's prediction, the crews will start back the following day where they had left off.
Loose leaves may be raked curbside for systematic vacuum collection.
Please keep all leaves behind the curb to ensure storm drains remain clear of debris. Piles need to be within 6 feet of the curb, or they will not be considered to be out for collection by our department.
Do not cover water meter lids with your loose leaf piles, as our machines will remove them. In addition to water meter lids, be mindful of your landscaping beds. Mulch, rock, flowers, etc. could be taken unbeknownst to the operators until it is too late.
Leave plenty of clearance around your piles. Do not block with parked vehicles.
The crews will pass through each of the zones one time, and will not be available to return for late rake outs, inaccessible piles, and the like.
For any questions, please call City Action at 270-687-4444.
