The Owensboro Fire Department invites the media to attend its annual Awards Ceremony, where outstanding firefighters will be recognized for their dedication, bravery, and service to the community.

WHEN: Saturday, February 8 at 11:00 a.m.

WHERE: Owensboro Fire Station 1 (512 West 9th Street)

The ceremony will honor individuals who have gone above and beyond in their roles, exemplifying excellence in firefighting, emergency response, and leadership. Awards will be presented in the following categories:

The Edge Ice Center invites the community to celebrate Mardi Gras at the coolest place in town! The first 50 guests will receive a free mask upon paid admission. Free beads will be handed out while supplies last.

The Run for Reform 5k/10k will take place on February 22, 2025. This route will
show off the KWC campus as well as surrounding neighborhoods and businesses that
encompass Owensboro. All proceeds from this event will benefit The Chad Lake
Foundation, which is a local non-profit that stands to raise awareness of the
issues of which is a local non-profit that stands to raise awareness for
individuals recovering from addiction and reintegrating into society after
involvement with the criminal justice system. The Chad Lake Foundation is
providing a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where individuals
can access the resources and services, they need to overcome addiction, develop
life skills, and achieve their goals. Our mission is to empower these individuals
to lead healthy, fulfilling lives and contribute positively to their communities.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Owensboro Citizen’s Advisory Committee for Community Development will hold a Special Called Meeting / Public Hearing on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. at Owensboro City Hall, 101 East 4th Street, Owensboro, Kentucky 42303 in the Commission Chambers on fourth floor. City staff will address the preparation of the FY 2025-2026 Annual Action Plan and the 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan.

 

The meeting will also be livestreamed on the City of Owensboro facebook page and Owensboro.org. The purpose of the Special Called Meeting / Public Hearing is to approve minutes; receive a progress report on 2020-2024 Community Development activities and action plans; present proposed activities for the 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan and 2025-2026 Annual Action Plan and host an open forum for public comment concerning housing and community development needs regarding the plans.
