2025 MEETING DATES

The 2025 meeting dates of the Owensboro Board of Commissioners are listed below. Commission meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 5:00 p.m. and the third Tuesday of the month beginning at 4:00 p.m.  All meetings are held in the Commission Chambers located on the fourth floor at City Hall, 101 E. 4th Street. Meeting dates are subject to change and if so, will be published.

Community Non- Profit that serves people in need free pizza, hygiene products and waters every two weeks along with other resources to help families throughout the year.

These days are set up for children to come out to the Soap Box Derby Track at Ben Hawes and try out Soap Box Derby Racing

OWENSBORO FIRE DEPARTMENT TO HOST OPEN HOUSE EVENT

The Owensboro Fire Department invites the public to join them for an Open House on March 1, 2025 at Station 1. Members of the Owensboro Fire Department will be available to provide valuable information about the hiring process and showcase various equipment demonstrations. This Open House offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in learning more about joining the Owensboro Fire Department to interact directly with current firefighters and gain insights into the recruitment process.

2025 NEIGHBORHOOD ALLIANCE CLEANUP SCHEDULE

The Owensboro Neighborhood Alliances will once again host the annual neighborhood cleanups. The cleanups will take place from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the dates listed below. All residents in the cleanup areas are encouraged to help beautify the neighborhood by picking up litter along sidewalks and streets on their scheduled cleanup day. Boundaries for your neighborhood alliance can be found at https://services.owensboro.org/maps/citizen-information/.             

The Sanitation Department will provide free curbside pick-up to alliance residential customers for junk furniture, appliances, tires, and other items. Place items curbside by the Friday night prior to your scheduled cleanup. Please note that it is no longer necessary to contact CityAction to schedule a pick-up. Smaller items must be bagged or boxed. Sanitation crews CANNOT collect construction debris/materials, yard waste, dirt, paint, or any type of liquid.

          STORM WATER QUALITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING

MARCH 19, 2025

The Owensboro Storm Water Quality Advisory Committee will meet on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. The meeting will take place at Owensboro Public Works, 1410 West 5^th Street, Owensboro, KY 42301

We are excited to present the 5th annual Wendell Foster Half Marathon and 5K, presented by Owensboro Health! Both routes are flat and fast, winding around scenic parts of Owensboro. The 13.1 half marathon and 3.1 5K are both fully supported, including some full and partial road closures. The race will start and finish on the waterfront next to the beautiful Smothers Park, which offers three signature fountains and an award-winning playground. Water stations will be conveniently placed along the course, and both races will be professionally timed. Big and bold finisher medals will be given to those who complete the course. In addition to the medals, prize money will be awarded to the top competitors in both the half marathon and 5K distances. For the half marathon distance, there will be a 4-hour course time limit to complete the race. You must be twelve years of age on race day to register for the half marathon. There is no age restriction for the 5K, or for rider athletes in the Stroller-Division. When you run with us, you are directly supporting Wendell Foster's mission of empowering people with disabilities! From all of us at Wendell Foster- thank you!

This is an annual fellowship walk to raise funds to feed the hungry and provide assistance for disasters. CROP is the hunger arm of Church World Service, an international ecumenical organization with interfaith partners. CWS provides insurance for the event. ODCMA provides volunteers to keep track of walkers on walk day. Participants register and sign their release for participation online in advance. They make a commitment to walk a certain distance (up to 3 miles.) They also collect their pledges online so no money is collected at the event. On the day of the walk, we gather at the park to meet each other before stepping off. We invite the local grant recipient (Yellow Creek Baptist, this year) to offer a prayer to start the event. Then participants walk the park path as many times as they have promised—up to 3 miles. One of the churches will provide oranges, bottled water, and crackers for walkers. After everyone is finished, the volunteers check for garbage and leave.
