EDGE ICE CENTER TO HOST 13^TH ANNUAL INVITATIONAL FIGURE SKATING COMPETITION MARCH 7-9

 

The City of Owensboro’s Edge Ice Center will host the 13^th annual Living on the Edge ISI Invitational Skating Competition, March 7-9, 2025!

 

Competing teams include the Robert Unger Ice Chalet from Knoxville, Tennessee; Lou and Gib Reese Ice Arena, Newark OH; St. Peters Rec-Plex, St. Peters, Missouri; the Huntsville Ice Sports Complex, Huntsville, Alabama;  and the City of Owensboro’s Edge Ice Center. 111 skaters will compete in the 3-day event creating an estimated direct economic impact to the community of $153,738.

 

The Owensboro team is comprised of 35 local skaters enrolled in the Learn to Skate Classes and also members of the Owensboro Figure Skating Club. They range in age between the ages of 4 and adult. According to Kerry Bodenheimer, team coach, the Figure Skating Club has been practicing hard and is ready to compete on their home ice after just returning from the ISI Winter Classic National event in St. Peters, Missouri where the team finished 3^rd overall out of 15 teams. Being able to also include skaters from the Learn-to-Skate program who are not yet members of Figure Club is a great opportunity for them to showcase their skills and be a part of the team atmosphere.

 

The competition will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, and go on until 9:00 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, events start at 7:30 a.m. Saturday evening events will end at 9:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoon the event will culminate with the awarding of the team trophies at 4:30 p.m. There are no admission fees and spectators are welcome. The facility will be closed for public skating throughout the weekend.
