NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Board will meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. in Commission Chambers, located on the fourth floor at City Hall, 101 E. 4^th Street, Owensboro, Kentucky.  Meeting dates are subject to change and if so, will be published.

2024 MEETING DATES

Meeting dates of the Owensboro Board of Commissioners for the year 2024 are listed below. Commission meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 5:00 p.m. and the third Tuesday of the month beginning at 4:00 p.m.  All meetings are held in the Commission Chambers located on the fourth floor at City Hall, 101 E. 4th Street. Meeting dates are subject to change and if so, will be published.

These days are set up for children to come out to the Soapbox Derby Track at Ben Hawes and try out Soapbox Derby Racing

May 11th is our Super Kids Soapbox Race for special needs kids in the morning and registration for our June Local Race in the afternoon. May 18th -19th is a Rally Race where there will be local racers as well as racers from other areas competing. June 2nd is Impound Day for Local Race and racers will have the opportunity to take trial runs down the track. June 8th is our Local Race where local racers will be competing for the opportunity to represent Owensboro at the All American Race in Akron OH in July. The August, September and November dates are Rally Races where local racers and racers from other areas will be racing to earn points to qualify to go the All American Race in Akron OH.

Looking for a fun and free activity for the whole family? Join Owensboro Parks & Recreation for Games on the River every Sunday through Sept.2 at Smothers Park. Giant games including Jenga, Yard Pong, Bocce Ball, and Connect 4 will be set up in the East Lawn Area near Allen Street. We'll see you there!

Annual Walk for Life starts in the parking lot of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. We walk north bound in One lane down Frederica Street towards the plaza. We take a short break and walk south bound down Frederica street in one lane back to Our lady of Lourdes.

Ghostly Productions is bringing actor Lee Waddell (Ghost Face) from Scream for photo opportunity with Ghost Face and meet and greet opportunity later that afternoon with Lee Waddell.

The Kentucky Run for the Fallen honors our fallen heroes. This is the same event as in previous years. We partner with the Daviess County Sheriff's Department, Owensboro Police Department, and Kentucky State Police to escort our entourage of runners and support vehicles. The run will begin at Smothers Park with an opening ceremony at 7 a.m. and from there runners will stop every two miles to honor fallen soldiers with a quick roadside ceremony saying the names of the fallen out loud. This is a two-day event coving 150 miles.

aircraft. Friday will be your chance to meet some of the pilots of these aircraft
and experience a taste of the Owensboro Air Show. As the sun begins to set, a few
performers will take to the sky to entertain the crowds with an evening spectacle
of nighttime air show performances followed by fireworks to conclude the night.
Admission is just $5.00 per person and kids 10 and under FREE. There will be food
and drink vendors onsite, so make your plans to head to the airport right after
work to enjoy a show never before seen in Owensboro. Saturday & Sunday- All eyes
will be on the skies over the Ohio River in downtown Owensboro as performers
showcase vintage warbirds, aerobatic demonstrations, and military jets, including
the US Navy Blue Angels!

This a yearly free event where different ensembles will set up along Smothers Park and play music for attendees to walk along the river front and listen to the different groups performing. The groups include: string ensemble, brass, percussion, chamber orchestra, and jazz trio.

The Owensboro Regional Suicide Prevention Coalition LifeSavers Walk is held annually for families and friends who have lost loved ones to suicide. Resources are made available for attendees, along with a butterfly release and opportunity to connect with others who have had similar life experiences. Attendees are encouraged to walk 2 laps around Moreland Park.

Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's is the world's largest fundraiser for Alzheimer's care, support and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease. While there is no fee to register for Walk, all participants are encouraged to raise critical funds that allow the Alzheimer's Association to provide 24/7 care and support and advance research toward methods of prevention, treatment and ultimately a cure.

CITY OF OWENSBORO SEEKING PUBLIC COMMENT ON HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT GRANT APPLICATION

The City of Owensboro is preparing to submit an application for a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Pro Housing Pathways to Removing Obstacles Round 2 grant. This grant application is a significant step toward enhancing housing opportunities and removing barriers to affordable housing within our community. In preparation for the application submission, the City of Owensboro Community Development Department has posted the application for public review and comment at owensboro.org.

You can submit written comments from September 30 – October 14, 2024 by:
