    May 11th is our Super Kids Soapbox Race for special needs kids in the morning and registration for our June Local Race in the afternoon. May 18th -19th is a Rally Race where there will be local racers as well as racers from other areas competing. June 2nd is Impound Day for Local Race and racers will have the opportunity to take trial runs down the track. June 8th is our Local Race where local racers will be competing for the opportunity to represent Owensboro at the All American Race in Akron OH in July. The August, September and November dates are Rally Races where local racers and racers from other areas will be racing to earn points to qualify to go the All American Race in Akron OH.

    The Owensboro Daviess County Youth Football League and City officials will unveil the inaugural plaques for the league’s Wall of Fame on Saturday, August 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the Waymond Morris Football Complex.

     

    Honorees will include:

    • Houston Hogg, former Daviess County High School and University of Kentucky player, who was instrumental in breaking the color barrier for the Southeastern Conference in the 1960’s. and impacted the lives of many through his fostering of over 200 youth in the Owensboro, Daviess county area;
    • Vince Buck, former ODCYFL player, OHS graduate, Central State Ohio player, and NFL player for the New Orleans Saints;
    • Mark Higgs, former ODCYFL player, OHS graduate, UK player, and NFL player for the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins, and Arizona Cardinals;
    • Kenny Willis, former ODCYFL player, OHS graduate, UK player, and NFL player Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the New York Giants;
    • Zane Beehn, former ODCYFL player, AHS graduate, UK player, and NFL player for the San Diego Chargers;

    The City of Owensboro is thrilled to invite the community to a groundbreaking ceremony for the Indoor Sports Facility in downtown Owensboro. This state-of-the-art complex is set to become a central hub for sports in our community bringing a new level of opportunity to the City of Owensboro.

    Where: 323 Cedar Street (Corner of West 3rd Street and Cedar Street)

    The new 88,000-square-foot facility will feature one turf court and five basketball courts, all of which are adaptable for various sports and tournament play. This multi-purpose venue is designed to accommodate a wide range of sports activities, fostering local talent and attracting regional and national events to Owensboro. The facility is expected to be completed by June 2026.
