Offering a free meal to whomever wishes to attend. Event takes place every other Friday at Kendall-Perkins Park.

These dates are Open Track Days for children and their parents to come out to the track to find out more about Soapbox Derby Racing and to take trial runs down the hill. The May 6th date will also be our Super Kids Race for special needs children. The winner of this race will advance to the All American Race in Akron during the summer. The June 3rd will also be our Impound Day for racers that will be running in the Local Soapbox Race on June 10th.

The Owensboro Neighborhood Alliances will once again host the annual neighborhood cleanups this year. The cleanups will take place from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the dates listed below. All residents in the cleanup areas are encouraged to help beautify the neighborhood by picking up litter along sidewalks and streets on their scheduled cleanup day. Boundaries for your neighborhood alliance can be found at https://services.owensboro.org/maps/citizen-information.

The Sanitation Department will provide free curbside pick-up to alliance residential customers for junk furniture, appliances, tires, and other items. Place items curbside by the Friday night prior to your scheduled cleanup. If you have large items, please call CityAction at 270-687-4444 or e-mail cityaction@owensboro.org BY THE WEDNESDAY BEFORE YOUR CLEANUP to schedule pick-up. Smaller items must be bagged or boxed. Sanitation crews CANNOT collect construction debris/materials, yard waste, dirt, paint, or any type of liquid.

Why should kids have all the fun? Participants pay a fee for their dogs to hunt for bones and toys. This is a fun event for dogs of all sizes and a great day out at the park for your local no-kill rescue. Participants get to take home all the toys and bones they find.

Family friendly event where we'll have an Easter egg hunt, have drawings for bicycles, free food, and a live DJ. Everyone is welcome to attend.

WHERE: Regional Water Resource - Agency Shop.  2101 Grimes Avenue, Owensboro, KY 42303 (Also known as the Joseph Murphy Operations Building on the corner of Grimes Ave. and East Parrish Ave.)

WHAT: Participants will learn from a University of Kentucky Extension Specialist how to
make and maintain a rain barrel. There will be a hands-on portion of the
workshop where attendees will construct a rain barrel to take home and use. All
barrels are re-purposed food grade barrels.

REGISTRATION: The fee is $30 to build one rain barrel. Space is limited. You must be present to claim your barrel. One barrel per household please.
