EDGE ICE CENTER TO HOST 10TH ANNUAL INVITATIONAL FIGURE SKATING COMPETITION AFTER TWO YEAR HIATUS

The City of Owensboro’s Edge Ice Center will host out-of-town figure skating teams this weekend after  a two year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In March of 2020 the event was cancelled exactly one week prior to the event. Now, two years later, the Owensboro Figure Skating Team is ready to compete again. The team is comprised of 11 local skaters between the ages of 8 and 16 years. Several of the skaters are new to the team and looking forward to their first competition.

Visiting teams include the Robert Unger Ice Chalet from Knoxville, Tennessee and the Bloomington Figure Skating Club from the Frank Southern Ice Arena, Bloomington, IN.

Events will begin at 9:15 a.m. Saturday morning and run throughout the day, culminating with on-ice team awards at approximately  3:30 p.m. There are no admission fees and spectators are welcome. Due to the event, the facility will be closed for public skating on Friday and Saturday. Sunday hours for public skating are 1-3:30 p.m. The facility will be closed the month of April for ice maintenance.
