The Newest Park Scavenger Hunt – PUCKS IN THE PARK!
Friday September 16, 2022 12:13 PM
Back by popular demand, the Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department has teamed up with WBKR and the Owensboro Youth Hockey Association to bring another family-fun scavenger event to our parks – PUCKS IN THE PARK. This year instead of pigs you will be on the hunt for hockey pucks. The best part is ALL PUCKS ARE WINNERS!
The hunts will take place in select parks on September 22, 29, and October 4. The selected parks will be released the morning of each hunt on the Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
There will be black, gold, silver and bronze pucks released each week. Each participant can only turn in one black puck and one specialty puck each hunt.
Black pucks are numbered and certain prizes will be linked to certain numbers. To claim your prize, you must return your black hockey puck to the Owensboro Parks and Recreation Administrative Center located at 1530 McJohnson Avenue.
If you find a gold, silver or bronze puck your name will be entered into a drawing for the prize linked to the color you found once it is turned in. Gold pucks must be returned to WBKR Radio Station, and the silver and bronze pucks must be returned to the Owensboro Parks and Recreation Administrative Center. Winners for the Specialty pucks will be announced on our social media page on October 7. In addition, a Grand Prize gold puck prize is provided by 92.5 WBKR, a silver puck Grand Prize is donated by the Edge Ice Center, and a Bronze puck prize will be donated by Owensboro Youth Hockey Association!
Please note, when returning your pucks to the Owensboro Parks and Recreation Administrative Center you will need to do this during business hours, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Administrative Center is closed for lunch from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 pm.
Thank you to those who provided prizes: Cold Stone Creamery, Moonlite Bar-B-Q., Edge Ice Center, Ben Hawes and Hillcrest Golf Courses, 54 Pizza Express, Lic’s Old Fashion Deli and Ice Cream, Drakes, Hall of Fame Bluegrass Music Museum, and Orange Leaf.
To keep up with the pucks, prizes, hunt dates, and park locations we strongly suggest you follow Owensboro Parks and Recreation’s social media pages. Get ready to Score Big, the hunt is on!
Just a reminder with all this puck business, Owensboro Youth Hockey is now registering for the 22-23 season for ages 4 and up. For information, visit owensborohockey.com. Hockey is a great sport to teach your child teamwork, build strength, improve balance and make new friends.
