RUDY MINE TRAILS CLOSED TO TRAIL USERS FOR THE 2024 INTERSCHOLASTIC CYCLING LEAGUE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Owensboro Parks & Recreation is thrilled to host over 300 middle and high school athletes at Rudy Mine Trails for the 2024 Kentucky Interscholastic Cycling League (KICL) State Championship Mountain Bike Race. The event will take place on Sunday, October 27, with practice rides on Saturday, October 26, and course set-up on Friday, October 25.
Rudy Mine Trails will be closed to casual users October 25-27 to accommodate the event.
Planning for this event began in early January through a collaboration between Owensboro Parks & Recreation, local KICL Coach Tom Higdon and KICL. These conversations, along with thorough assessments conducted by representatives of Owensboro Parks & Recreation, the Rudy Mine Composite Mountain Biking Team, and the Kentucky Mountain Biking Association, ensured that the trail system meets KICL's rigorous standards.
The public is invited to attend the race on Sunday, with no admission fee! Bring your chairs and cheer on the talented mountain biking students in their season's final race, which begins at 9:00 a.m. and concludes around 3:00 p.m., followed by the award ceremony.
Don’t miss out on this exciting championship event!
