OWENSBORO AIR SHOW ADDS
ARMY GOLDEN KNIGHTS PARACHUTE TEAM AND GARY WARD
The City of Owensboro is excited to announce the addition of the US Army Golden Knights Parachute Demonstration Team and renowned aerobatic performer, Gary Ward to the 2016 Owensboro Air Show on October 1-2, 2016.
The world-renowned parachute team will be returning to Owensboro following their participation in the 2014 air show. Spectators will have the opportunity to witness the incredible aerial display of the most famous parachute demonstration team in the world as they begin the air show each day flying the United States flag during the national anthem. The first opportunity to witness these amazing performers will be on Friday, September 30 at the Owensboro Regional Airport. The team will be jumping into the static display area just after dark thrilling spectators as they descend from 12,000’ above the airport with flares to witness their aerial maneuvers.
Gary Ward will also be making his second appearance at the Owensboro Air Show following his participation in 2013. Gary thrills crowds all over North and South America each year pushing his brightly painted MX2 aircraft to the limits with amazing aerobatic maneuvers and low-level passes skimming just feet above the Ohio River. Spectators are always asking each other “Did you just see that?” as Gary works through his heart-pounding routine.
On Friday evening, in addition to the Army Golden Knights performance, spectators will be able to get an up-close look at performer planes as well as other military and civilian aircraft. The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will also have a meet-and-greet at 5:00pm near their aircraft display. Admission for activities at the airport is $2.00. Children ages 12 and younger are free. First responders and veterans will also receive free admission. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display presented by Independence Bank.
