LEAF COLLECTION SEASON 2023-24
The Owensboro Sanitation Department will begin vacuum leaf collection on Monday, October 16, 2023 through February 15, 2024. Crews will begin in section 1-A this year. Leaf piles can be placed in yards within 6 feet of a curb for crews to vacuum. Customers can find their leaf zone by accessing our interactive map at https://services.owensboro.org/maps/citizen-information/.
Monitor leaf zone progress at www.owensboro.org/sanitation, @CityofOwensboro on social media, local media outlets, or by calling CityAction at 270-687-4444.
Bagged leaves must be in plastic bags (less than 30 lbs. per bag) and placed curbside on your scheduled trash day for disposal. Bagged leaves can also be taken to the Sportscenter parking lot on Hickman Avenue and deposited in specially marked, orange leaf collection dumpsters.
Leaf Collection Tips:
- Be ready. Crews cannot return for late rake-outs or inaccessible piles.
- Do not place leaf piles over water meter lids or other obstructions.
- Do not mix limbs, yard waste, or trash with leaves.
- Do not wet leaves. Vacuums cannot lift frozen leaf piles.
- Rake early in the season. Snow and ice may slow or prohibit leaf collection.
- Rake leaves curbside in your yard. Do not rake leaves on the street or sidewalk.
- Piles need to be within 6 feet of the curb.
- Leaf piles should not be blocked by vehicles.
- Loose brush/limb collection ends during leaf season.
