OWENSBORO AIR SHOW

ICONIC WWII B-17 BOMBER RETURNS TO AIR SHOW

The Owensboro Air Show is thrilled to have one of the most recognizable aircraft from military aviation history coming to Owensboro this year, the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress.

EAA AirVenture in OshKosk, WI will be bringing their B-17G bomber, Aluminum Overcast, to Owensboro on Wednesday, September 28th to get ready for a full air show weekend.  The symbol of US aviation dominance in WWII, Aluminum Overcast is one of only a dozen B-17’s still flying.  The airplane will be on static display on Friday, September 30th at the Owensboro Regional Airport as part of the air show activities that evening.  In addition, EAA AirVenture will be offering paid-rides Friday through Sunday.  This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of living-history to board the iconic aircraft and sit in the tail gunner or bombardier seats to experience a taste of what our veterans experienced each time they took off on missions in support of Allied troops.

In addition to the B-17 on static display at the airport on Friday, September 30th, spectators will be able to enjoy a wide range of civilian and military aircraft.  Spectators will have the chance to get an up-close look at the Navy F-18, USCG HC-144, and Snowbirds Tutor jets.  Vintage warbirds including a T-34, T-6 Texan, AT-11 and more will also be on display.

For more information about how to book your paid ride on the B-17G Aluminum Overcast or for general air show information including a schedule of events, parking maps, etc. visit www.owensboroairshow.com.
