FIRE LANE ORDINANCE TO BE ENFORCED NOVEMBER 1ST
On September 12, 2017 the City of Owensboro Board of Commissioners adopted an ordinance that retracted the amendment to the fire code that allowed for up to three minutes parking in a fire lane if the vehicle was occupied. This amendment was impossible to enforce, cumbersome for business owners, and often abused. The City of Owensboro returns to the original fire code that restricts parking in declared and marked fire lanes with the exception of emergency vehicles in the course of duties. The Owensboro Police Department will begin actively enforcing this ordinance on Wednesday, November 1, 2017.
