CITY OF OWENSBORO TO HONOR VIETNAM VETERANS
AS PART OF COMMEMORATIVE PARTNERS PROGRAM
The City of Owensboro will be honoring all Vietnam Veterans this weekend with events on Friday, February 19th and Sunday, February 21st. The City is an official member of the United States of America Vietnam War Commemorative Partner Program. The Commemorative Partner Program assists communities in honoring and thanking our Vietnam Veterans and their families.
On Friday, February 19th at 2:00 p.m. the City will be honoring Vietnam veterans with a flag presentation at the Shelton Memorial. This event is open to the public.
The City of Owensboro with the Kentucky Mavericks invite all veterans to “Military Night” at the Sportscenter on Sunday, February 21st at 4:00 p.m. Admission to the Mavericks game against the Lake Michigan Admirals will be $6.00 for all veterans. Please show your military id, DD Form 214 showing honorable discharge from the armed forces, Veterans organization membership card, Veterans Health identification card, automobile registration showing a military plate, or active/reserve members in uniform. All Vietnam veterans along with their families will be honored at halftime in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the war. Vietnam veterans will receive a commemorative lapel pin and proclamation of the event.
