CITY HALL, PARKS & RECREATION FACILITIES, TRANSIT, AND SANITATION THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

 

City Hall: Closed on Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24

 

Parks & Recreation: The Parks & Recreation Administration Center and Dugan Best Recreation Center will close Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24. The Edge Ice Center, Ben Hawes Golf Course, and Hillcrest Golf Course will close Thursday, but open again on Friday. Dugan Best Recreation Center will open Saturday, November 25.

 

Owensboro Transit System: City buses will not run on Thursday, November 23 and will run on a reduced schedule from 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. on Friday, November 24.

 

Owensboro Sanitation Department: Normal trash collection will occur Monday, November 20, through Wednesday, November 22. There will be no trash collection on Thursday, November 23. Thursday routes will be collected on Friday, November 24, and Friday routes will be collected on Saturday, November 25. 

Residents are reminded that the City’s cost-saving automated system and low sanitation rates do not allow for extra trash to be piled on, in, or around the mobile cart; lids must be closed for collection. Special blue bags are available to purchase at City Hall for $2.50 each or 5/$10.00. The bags should be placed near the mobile cart for collection.

Please be sure that carts are curbside by 6:00 a.m. and are removed from the curb on the same day serviced. In the event a return for collection is needed, a $25.00 service fee may be added to your monthly sanitation bill.  Ensure carts open towards the street and that there is at least 4 ft. of clearance around the cart for our automated system to collect your cart.   The 4 ft. of clearance is especially important when holiday visitors are parked on the street.
