Soapbox Derby Open Track

These dates are Open Track Days for children and their parents to come out to the track to find out more about Soapbox Derby Racing and to take trial runs down the hill. The May 6th date will also be our Super Kids Race for special needs children. The winner of this race will advance to the All American Race in Akron during the summer. The June 3rd will also be our Impound Day for racers that will be running in the Local Soapbox Race on June 10th.

May 20-21 is a Rally Race Weekend where racers from around the area and surrounding states will be competing to earn points to attend the All American Race in Akron. Racers will be recognized and there will be games and other activities for them and their families. June 10th will be the Local Race where kids will compete to earn a trip to the All American Race in Akron. June 11th is the rain date for the Local Race. August 19-20 is another Rally Race Weekend. September 9-10 and November 4-5 are Rally Races where racers from the area and other states will compete for points to earn a trip to the All American Race in Akron.

Safe Haven Baby Box Dedication

The Owensboro Fire Department is proud to announce the official dedication ceremony for the Safe Haven Baby Box located at Fire Station 1. Safe Haven Baby Box is a safety device designed for a mother in crisis to safely, securely, and anonymously surrender if they are unable to care for their newborn. Community members, local officials, representatives from Safe Haven Baby Box and Right to Life Owensboro will gather to celebrate the official dedication of the box.

The Owensboro Fire Department invites all members of the community to join us in this significant event as we unveil the Safe Haven Baby Box. This endeavor reflects our commitment to working with community partners to create a safer, more caring community where every child’s well-being is prioritized. Light refreshments will follow after the ceremony.

International Overdose Awareness Day Walk
