NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Board will meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. in Commission Chambers, located on the fourth floor at City Hall, 101 E. 4^th Street, Owensboro, Kentucky.  Meeting dates are subject to change and if so, will be published.

2024 MEETING DATES

Meeting dates of the Owensboro Board of Commissioners for the year 2024 are listed below. Commission meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 5:00 p.m. and the third Tuesday of the month beginning at 4:00 p.m.  All meetings are held in the Commission Chambers located on the fourth floor at City Hall, 101 E. 4th Street. Meeting dates are subject to change and if so, will be published.

These days are set up for children to come out to the Soapbox Derby Track at Ben Hawes and try out Soapbox Derby Racing

The Seven Hills Neighborhood Alliance is excited to announce its upcoming First-Time Home Buyer Workshop, scheduled for Thursday, May 2, 2024. The free workshop will take place at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2815 Old Hartford Road at 6:00 p.m. Members of the City of Owensboro Community Development department will facilitate the workshop.

Designed to empower prospective home buyers with essential knowledge and guidance, this informative session will cover the basics of homeownership, managing credit and budgeting, securing a mortgage, navigating the home search process, understanding home inspections and insurance, as well title searches, closing procedures, available down payment assistance and first-time home buyer programs.

Families are welcome to attend, and snacks will be provided. Interested participants are encouraged to reserve their seats.

KingKat is an established catfish tournament trail owned and operated by Bob Denen, Andy Denen and TJ Perkins. Tournament sites are located in different markets offering us a chance to promote our sponsors' products in different areas and allowing the local anglers in each district the opportunity to compete on a truly National Trail.

Sutton Elementary will be having a 5K run/walk on May 4th, 2024. We will start and end the race at Owensboro High School.

2024 OWENSBORO NEIGHBORHOOD ALLIANCE CLEANUP SCHEDULE

The Owensboro Neighborhood Alliances will once again host the annual neighborhood cleanups. The cleanups will take place from 6:00 -11:00 a.m. on the dates listed below. All residents in the cleanup areas are encouraged to help beautify the neighborhood by picking up litter along sidewalks and streets on their scheduled cleanup day. Boundaries for your neighborhood alliance can be found at https://services.owensboro.org/maps/citizen-information.

The Sanitation Department will provide free curbside pick-up to alliance residential customers for junk furniture, appliances, tires, and other items. Place items curbside by the Friday night prior to your scheduled cleanup. If you have large items, please call CityAction at 270-687-4444 or e-mail cityaction@owensboro.org BY THE WEDNESDAY BEFORE YOUR CLEANUP to schedule a pick-up. Smaller items must be bagged or boxed. Sanitation crews CANNOT collect construction debris/materials, yard waste, dirt, paint, or any type of liquid.

BBQ and Barrels represents the culmination of 45 years of a cultural tradition in Owensboro and Daviess County. The Owensboro Family YMCA is hosting the 46th annual YMCA BBQ 5K run/walk on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 8 a.m. Competitive (chip timed) racers will be in the front of the pack; non-competitive racers & walkers will stage in the back of the pack. This event is to spread the word about Imagination Library of Daviess County. It's free to the public, and we will have storybook characters, face painters, snackers, balloon twisters, and free books for kids.

May 11th is our Super Kids Soapbox Race for special needs kids in the morning and registration for our June Local Race in the afternoon. May 18th -19th is a Rally Race where there will be local racers as well as racers from other areas competing. June 2nd is Impound Day for Local Race and racers will have the opportunity to take trial runs down the track. June 8th is our Local Race where local racers will be competing for the opportunity to represent Owensboro at the All American Race in Akron OH in July. The August, September and November dates are Rally Races where local racers and racers from other areas will be racing to earn points to qualify to go the All American Race in Akron OH.

2024 President's Cup Final. President's Cup is the Kentucky Youth Soccer Association championship weekend for most ages of athletes. Teams will be attending from Louisville, Elizabethtown, Lexington, Murray, and more.

Annual Memorial Day Walk for the Fallen. Opening ceremony will take place at Shelton Memorial 5/27 at 9:00am. There will be a short speech and reading names of the fallen. At approximately 9:30am we will depart for the 11 mile walk around Owensboro. The event will begin and end at Shelton Memorial and the conclusion will be a brief moment of silence.
