Owensboro Parks & Recreation Covid-19 Update
Administrative Center, Outdoor Tennis, Archery and Centre Court Reopening
As details of the Governor’s Phased Reopening process are released, the City of Owensboro and our Parks & Recreation team work diligently to apply that model to our programs and locations. With this information in mind, Monday, June 1 the City of Owensboro will be opening outdoor tennis courts, the archery range at Ben Hawes Park and the Owensboro Parks & Recreation Administrative Center with restrictions. In addition, Centre Court operated by the Owensboro Daviess County Tennis Association will be opening.
Outdoor tennis courts and the archery range will have signs posted stating guidelines and restrictions for use. Please abide by those guidelines.
Centre Court has established a plan for operation around the USTA guidelines. Those rules are posted at the facility. Please call Centre Court in advance at 270-240-4213 if you have questions or wish to reserve a court time.
The Parks & Recreation Administrative Center will open to the public without appointment; however, capacity will be limited to three (3) guests at any given time. Masks required to be worn by all visitors and staff members in lobbies, common areas, restrooms, and hallways. Visitors required to provide their own masks. Please follow CDC social distancing guidelines of six (6) feet in all city facilities. To protect the health and well-being of the public and staff, we continue to encourage visitors and members of the public to conduct business with the city through electronic means such as email and phone.
Outdoor park greenspace and walking trails remain open as we support responsible use by following CDC and state guidelines. Park amenities like playgrounds, other sport courts and fields remain closed until further notice.
Keep in mind this is an unprecedented situation. Our goal above all else is to ensure the safety of our citizens, participants and team members. We apologize for any inconvenience, and ask all to remain patient during this time as we do our part to in the effort to protect the public and employees from transmission of COVID-19.
As we see the situation progress and the Governor’s model updated, we will release updated information on our parks, facilities and programs.
